Online Tasting: Cold Infusions (10th April 2021 15:30 to 16:30)
Cold infusing is a popular topic and a delicious way to appreciate fine tea. When teas are infused cold, it brings out many different flavours from the leaves, highlighting aspects of a tea’s flavour profile which might otherwise be overlooked. Cold temperatures also reduce the tannins, allowing for longer, more intense infusions, without extracting much bitterness. This method of infusion is used in restaurants for alcohol-free pairings.
For this tasting, you are welcome to attend with any tea or teas from our library. Book your place on this page and use the code PCEventApril for 15% off any leaf teas of your choice. Once you’ve placed your order, we will contact you with the details of how to prepare a cold infusion ahead of the tasting. (Some teas will infuse overnight.)
On the 10th April from 15:30 to 16:30 (UK time) we’ll meet on a video call to taste our cold infusions and compare them to a hot infusion of the same tea. The session will cover the effect of temperature when infusing tea, the impact on flavour, and the uses of cold infusions, particularly in tea pairings. We expect this will be a very interesting event for both private customers and hospitality professionals.
